The Holy Breath Between Us (CFTM AU)

This short story can be read without having read Call Forth the Moonlight. The characters and Deubrise are familiar, but this version of Deubrise is more modern, and Ackerleigh and Nico are at university together.

First-year student Nico De Falco hopes the knowledge he gains at Ravensbourne University will make the world safer for his magíqon sister. This research trip to the Hazel Mountains is just the experience he needs to make that happen.

Ackerleigh Sebring, third-year student and covert magíqon, hopes he can get through this trip without interacting with any of his irritating classmates. If he wants to secure his dream internship, though, he's going to have to push himself to open up to others.

After getting in a fight nearly ends the trip for Nico, he and Ackerleigh are forced to share a room. Unexpected tenderness blossoms as they experience the magíq of the Hazel Mountains together.
